All people 3yo+ will wear an appropriately fitting mask, covering their nose and mouth during the entire consultation. This is non-negotiable for the safety of all involved. The Lactation Consultant will wear a properly fitting mask for each consult. Each patient must consent to the mask policy for the duration of the consult. Failure to comply will result in the consult ending immediately. No refund will be provided in this situation.
Patients who arrive in a mask that is thin, sheer, ill-fitting, or vented, will be given an appropriate disposable mask to wear properly for the duration of the consultation.
Patients who prefer not to wear a mask will be seen via telehealth.
Your consultant will maintain social distancing whenever possible, but will briefly be close, while masked, during oral exams for the baby, and while assisting with and assessing latch. While you nurse or feed the baby, your consultant will move to an appropriate social/physical distance. If you are having a home visit, please ensure there is sufficient space in the consult area to maintain some distance.
Our space is large and well-ventilated with plenty of room for distancing.
We have two HEPA air purification units running in the consultation offices. Each of the air purifiers can exchange the air in the room in 12 minutes.
We sanitize scales, phones, computers, changing pads, door knobs, light switches, with Cavicide or 70%+ alcohol and use disposable covers where appropriate. For home visits, we also remove our shoes. Hands are washed before each consult, gloves are worn for any physical exam of babe(s) or of the breast.
No food or drink may be brought into the office/consumed in the office at this time.
(Baby bottles for babe are of course exempt from this rule.)
